Samsung ML-2152W Laser Printer Review

The Samsung ML-2152W is a feature-rich high volume laser printer for small offices. However HP and Xerox arguably offer better paper handling and support. What is good is that the Samsung ML-2152W comes with everything included in its basic price, from duplexer to wireless networking port.

Samsung ML-2152W many features, good value

Cheap printers often turn expensive when you add in the upgrade options to make them workgroup-worthy. But the Samsung ML-2152W comes with everything included in its basic price, from duplexer to wireless networking port.

The ML-2152W is designed for high volume paper handling. A 500-sheet input cassette, with paper-level indicator, slots in the front of the unit. A multipurpose tray above this supports another 100 sheets.

Printouts can be delivered face-down to the top output tray, or face-up to a hinged-panel output tray at the back. This can also act as a straight-path tray in conjunction with the multipurpose feeder.

The full list of ports includes USB2, parallel and 10/100BaseTX Ethernet, while the wireless antenna receives print jobs from any computer with an 802.11b adaptor, both directly or via a wireless hub.

The printer can be configured remotely from a web browser, or at the device itself using its navigation buttons and two-line backlit LCD status window. You can even toggle duplexing on and off with a single global override button on top of the machine.

Here are the specifications:

  • black: up to 20 ppm
  • 16mb memory (expandable to 144mb)
  • Total Input Media Capacity 600 sheets
  • 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi for monochrome documents
  • Average Duty Cycle: 10,000 prints/month

Samsung ML-2152W great value if you can handle steering away from HP

Small offices or departments and home offices will benefit from the printer's excellent text quality and many useful features for the price.

However large or busy workgroups will need a printer with faster speed and more paper-handling capabilities--and much better support.
